Volunteers - A vital part of the Cultural Centre Back to Top
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre plays an important role in the cultural mosaic of this county. The Centre’s success can be attributed to the diverse programs, exhibits and educational offerings available to the public—many of which are dependent on volunteerism.

In 2009, the Cultural Centre benefitted from the efforts of over 50 volunteers who donated 3200 volunteer hours! From helping with events and programming to public reception, in virtually all aspects of the Centre, our volunteers strengthen the space. We are grateful for this.

The Centre offers a variety of volunteer opportunities from helping with with children’s workshops,  special events, gift shop sales desk, leading tours around the Museum, R.D. Lawrence Place or the Gallery, or just saying "Hello, welcome!” Please contact the Cultural Centre Director if you are interested in being part of this vibrant Centre as a volunteer. Following are some of the typical opportunities available at the Cultural Centre:

Front Desk Attendant
Our front desk attendants welcome visitors into the Cultural Centre buildings, invite them to ask questions about current exhibits, programs or events, taking phone calls and help us with front-of-house administrative tasks and gift shop sales. This is usually a 2 hour committment between 12 pm and 2 pm, Tuesday to Saturday.

Special Events
Most of the Cultural Centre’s events are annual activities that bring both awareness to the community about the Centre and also serve as valuable fundraisers to support our public programs. Our special events volunteers help in many ways such as inspiring new ideas, assisting with exhibition openings or taking tickets at the door. Some of our special events include CultureFest including outdoor historical theatre, music, dance and Fringe Theatre, the first annual Beat Beethoven fundraising race and Minden Festival of Trees.Together our special events help us to achieve our annual fundraising goals.
